KDrama: Boys Before Flowers (꽃보다 남자)
Posted January 25, 2009on:
Two episodes a week: you think that I would be satisfied. But I just can’t get enough!
The Korean version of Hana Yori Dango started airing at the beginning of January 2009 on Mondays and Tuesdays on KBS2. As I’m writing this, six episodes have been released. Of course, I’ve seen all six of them 😉
So what do I think so far? Not bad, not bad at all.
This remake definitely had a big budget, obvious in the helicopter and private island scenes. The F4 boys are all very adorable dressed in their sharp Korean style.I’m not too fond of Koo Hye Sun as Jan Di (aka Makino, the female lead). She really overextends her face too often. Other than that, over adorable as well.
In conclusion: The Koreans have outdone themselves. I’m very impressed. Mondays and Tuesday have suddenly become the best days of the week. (I’m exaggerating a bit.)
I would love it if you guys could comment on BBF:
Have you seen it yet? If yes, what do you think? Have does it compare thus far to Meteor Garden or Hana Yori Dango?
I’m definitely going to write another post some other time when I figure out the names of the character in Korean. At the meantime, here’s a translation chart I created to help everyone out:
Makino Tsukushi = Geum Jan Di (played by Koo Hye Sun)
Domyoji Tsukasa = Goo Joon Pyo (played by Lee Min Ho)
Hanazawa Rui = Yoon Ji Hoo (played by Kim Hyun Joong)
Nishikado Sojiro = So Yi Jung (played by Kim Bum)
Mimasaka Akira = Song Woo Bin (played by Kim Joon)
