Since the unsubbed version is already out on CrunchyRoll, it won’t be long before every HanaKimi fans will get access to watch the 90 minute special. With multiple midterms this week, it took me a couple days to finish the movie special. The special basically revisits our favorite people from the Hana Kimi (Japan) series but doesn’t develop the plot at all.

We see Nakatsu being his happy/over-active self and Sano expressing… what is that? His emotions!?!!

The boys at the 3 rivial dorms are still acting as silly as ever, and sports is still the only clue that school is in session. Do they not have class? The only adults at the school seems to be principal, her assistant, and the homosexual nurse.

The special wasn’t bad at all. It’s just a little disappointing after that long wait and all the hype from the media.

Watch this! I’ve only seen the first episode and am super excited for the rest. For those of you who haven’t heard of Koizora, it’s a super cute story about high school romance. Some dialogues are pretty mushy but nothing out of the norm in a jdrama. This is not the 2007 movie but actually a very short drama – six episodes total – airing August to September 2008.

[Later… Same day] Lol, I’ve finished the three episodes that have aired! If you think this drama is too immature or mushy for you, stick it through the first 2 episodes. Trust me it gets a lot more interesting and much more emotionally gripping. So many tragedies happen to the unlikely couple of Mika and Hiro, I can’t help but be amazed that they make it through it all. I won’t speak too early since a lot could happen in the second half / the last 3 episodes. I hope they make it.

I’ve discovered a cute little j-drama on CrunchyRoll. The main character, Amemiya (played by Ayase Haruka) is adorable. On the surface, she is a responsible adult who works in an interior design company but underneath, she is messy, unladylike, and has the love experience of a middle school students. It was hilarious watching her freak out over a kiss. If you thought Ariel Lin was cute in ISWAK or They Kiss Again. You’ll love Ayase’s character. Sadly, I think she will ended with her married boss since they are rooming together because of some drunken contract. Very Full House like. Cross my figure and hope everything turns out the way I want. That is Amemiya ends up with another cute architect in her company.

Could this possibly be the Japanese version of Grey’s Anatomy? I mean hot interns with mysterious backgrounds? I spotted a George in the nerdy looking Fuikawa (bottom center right in photo) in minutes. And a clumsy Izzy in Toda Erika’s character Hiyama. Aragaki Yui’s character (Shiraishi Megumi, right in photo above) is a combination of Meredith Grey and Christina Yang. She has a famous doctor for a dad and wants to stand independent from her name. Shiraishi is also uber on the ball about each patient’s situation and textbook procedures. I haven’t made up my mind about who Yamashita’s Aizawa (left in photo) would parallel. McDreamy? Guess we’ll see as the drama progresses. I have to say… Code Blue has Yamapi at his hottest. I totally dig the curls.

Here’s some screen caps from episode one with obvious comparisons to Grey’s Anatomy:

Here’s what I thought about the first episode:

1) Ohno Satoshi is so good! His character is enclosed in a cloud of mystery and really attracts attention despite Toma’s good-lookingness.

2) Toma is always running. In the opening theme, in the first shot of him chasing a suspect, in almost every scene with him in it. Multiply that by the number of takes he would have to do for each scene and the number of scenes he has in each episode, I think Ikuta Toma is probably in his best shape right now.

3) I didn’t recognize the girl with the supernatural skills but her acting seemed decent.

4) Why does Ohno’s character have more pictures of Ikuta Toma than the average Toma fan? Check out the last picture of his darkroom in the screencaps.

Can’t wait for episode 2!
